Sickness Absence & Attendance Management

Financial impact of sickness absence

We’re all used to hearing about the cost of sickness absence to employers; according to the CBI, the average cost of absence per UK employee in 2008 was £666.  When you add that up it amounts to over £12 billion per year for UK businesses.

But what lies behind the figures? Although most people in their working lives will have the odd sick day here and there, it’s long-term sickness absence which has a major financial impact on employers.

Our strategy

Our approach to the issue of sickness absence is proactive and comprehensive: promoting the positive effects of work, educating employees on living a healthy lifestyle and offering the appropriate rehabilitation support to employees who have been out of work due to ill health.

This strategy helps reduce the number of absences due to ill health and facilitates the return to work of those who have been unable to continue in their roles.

Positive outcomes

Naturally, there is a financial benefit to reducing sickness absence, but there are other positives too, including improved morale, better productivity, retention of valued staff and a healthy and safe working environment.
