Hand Arm Vibration risks and regulations
Hand Arm Vibration can be a health risk wherever powered hand tools are used for significant lengths of time. Health & Safety Executive Good Practice Controls can help to eliminate or reduce these risks and a vital element of an employer’s duty is to provide health surveillance to those employees who are identified as being at risk. We can help you ensure that you are introducing the correct controls and fulfilling your legal obligations by complying with the the Hand Arm Vibration regulations.
Health surveillance
Health surveillance should be provided for vibration-exposed employees who:
- are likely to be regularly exposed above the HSE action value;
- are likely to be exposed occasionally above the HSE action value and where the risk assessment identifies that the frequency and severity of exposure may pose a risk to health;
- have a diagnosis of HAVS (even when exposed below the HSE action value).
